The Lyndale Neighborhood is best known for its active and engaged community. As a diverse community of 8,000, Lyndale’s mix of businesses, homes, condos, and apartments provide great housing opportunities no matter where you are in life. Lyndale is in the heart of South Minneapolis—giving the neighborhood easy access to shopping, the lakes, transit, and the freeway. The Lyndale Neighborhood Association brings people together--helping community members organize a wide range of events, programs, activities, and volunteer opportunities that engage people throughout the year.

The Lyndale Neighborhood came of age in the early part of the 1900s, as the city expanded south of Lake Street. If you look carefully you can still see where the old street car lines use to run. As you travel down Nicollet Avenue you can learn about neighborhood history through the “Walldogs on Nicollet” murals, which include imagery from Joseph Nicollet and the old Nicollet Ballpark.

Lyndale has a wide range of homes, condos, and apartments. The majority of the homes are turn of the century homes built between 1900 and 1920 that have been lovingly restored and updated.

Getting Involved

The Lyndale Neighborhood Association involves hundreds of volunteers each year to help make Lyndale one of the most vibrant and sustainable neighborhoods in Minneapolis. To get involved check out
