Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity Home Ownership Program PDF Print E-mail

Description: Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity builds and renovates homes in the seven-county metro area to help low-income families enter affordable homeownership and to engage communities in the importance of this work. Habitat works side by side with selected homebuyers, volunteers and staff to build single family, twin or multi-unit homes. Habitat home ownership applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Lived in the Twin Cities area for at least one year
  • Meet Twin Cities Habitat’s income guidelines and credit standards. Qualifying income minimums and maximums are determined by family size and are below 50% of the Twin Cities area median income. These guidelines are adjusted each year.
  • Learn about and accept the responsibilities of homeownership
  • Attend all Habitat homeowner education training
  • Contribute 300 – 500 hours of work toward the construction of Habitat homes.

“My husband and I moved to Minneapolis from San Diego. Most people think we got it backwards, but we wouldn't live anywhere else. Minneapolis + St. Paul have great museums, theater, city living, and the great outdoors. Our son's first word was 'duck' thanks to our proximity to Minnehaha Creek.”
